A Merciful God
When we talk about Jonah, people automatically associate it with the storm on the boat, with disobedience, and with the prophet who was swallowed by the big fish.
While many prophets would feel honored to go preach in a land so devastated by sin, Jonah got angry and decided to change his route. I imagine Jonah didn't want his enemies to be forgiven. He might feel like an idiot for going there to preach to those who lived in a land considered hostile to his. After all, Nineveh was known for having unscrupulous and cruel warriors.
Our God is merciful. And that's what people don't pay attention to when they read the story of Jonah, Nineveh, and Tarshish. His mercy was demonstrated several times throughout the book of Jonah: when God asks Jonah to go preach to Nineveh, when He saves Jonah from the fish's mouth, and when He actually forgives Nineveh after her repentance.
We worship a merciful God. Nothing you have done to date is unforgivable to Him. Cry out for forgiveness. Cry for salvation. He will hear from His throne.
