YOU + GOD = MORE THAN ENOUGH (The Keys to Walking in Spiritual Authority & Emotional Intelligence)Sample
A Healthy Relationship is Crucial
As believers, we all want to maintain a healthy relationship with God. It is critical to our daily walk. It allows us to be open, honest, and transparent with our feelings and emotions. In turn, it will enable God to be honest with us when he is happy or disappointed in our actions. Most of us use our time in prayer for this type of intimacy with God. What many people fail to acknowledge is that you can’t lie to God. You can pray a fluff prayer, but God already knows what is going on deep down inside. God knows all and sees all. In Job 28:24 "For he looks to the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens."
God's omniscience and omnipresence were evident in His relationship with King David, offering us a glimpse into their honest connection. King David's transparency paved the way for a deep and authentic bond, fostering genuine love and trust. This level of openness mirrors the kind of relationship God seeks with each of us. Do you have that friend who speaks truth with love, and is always rooting for your success? It's crucial to be willing to surrender and be honest with God so that you can hear and obey the guidance, a process that inherently requires trust. But what if trust is a struggle for you?
I could confidently claim a PhD in navigating the trust journey. In my youth, I approached prayer with unwavering faith, trusting God's presence and response. However, as an adult, when my business faced challenges, coupled what appeared to be unanswered prayers, my trust in God faltered.
What I failed to realize was that God was addressing a flaw in my character. Frustrated by the lack of desired outcomes, I resorted to controlling everything and everyone within my grasp. When God unveiled this truth, it plunged me into a deep state of depression, leaving me feeling vulnerable and as though I was being targeted by God. This life lesson humbled me to my core, bringing me to my knees in surrender. I didn’t want to control people, it was the outcome. So I had to walk this lesson out painfully.
When God showed me who I was, it was sad and disheartening. However, God was right there giving me instruction and guidance on how to make a change to trust him and the process. One thing we know about God is that you will never be forced to do something. There will always be the gentle nudge that leads to conviction and the willingness on our part to obey. While many may not see it, I consider this the friendship that keeps on giving.
As my trust in God was renewed, I began to see that my God confidence was being restored. I Peter 5:7 encourages us to "cast all your cares upon him; for he cares for you." This was my breakthrough. It was the confidence needed to walk into rooms that no man can shut and out of rooms that are not of his will. The healthier your relationship is with God, the easier it is to hear, listen, and move as guided.
Prayer:
Teach me your ways Lord. Show me how to walk confidently with you knowing that you have my best interest at heart.
