         <div class="label">20</div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">The Thousand Years</span></div><div class="p"><span class="content">  </span><span class="verse v1" data-usfm="REV.20.1"><span class="label">1</span><span class="content">And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven, having the key to the Abyss and holding in his hand a great chain. </span></span><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="REV.20.2"><span class="label">2</span><span class="content">He seized the dragon, that ancient serpent, who is the devil, or Satan, and bound him for a thousand years. </span></span><span class="verse v3" data-usfm="REV.20.3"><span class="label">3</span><span class="content">He threw him into the Abyss, and locked and sealed it over him, to keep him from deceiving the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After that, he must be set free for a short time.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v3" data-usfm="REV.20.3"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v4" data-usfm="REV.20.4"><span class="label">4</span><span class="content">I saw thrones on which were seated those who had been given authority to judge. And I saw the souls of those who had been beheaded because of their testimony about Jesus and because of the word of God. They</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">20:4 </span><span class="ft">Or </span><span class="fqa">God; I also saw those who</span></span></span><span class="content"> had not worshiped the beast or its image and had not received its mark on their foreheads or their hands. They came to life and reigned with Christ a thousand years. </span></span><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="REV.20.5"><span class="label">5</span><span class="content">(The rest of the dead did not come to life until the thousand years were ended.) This is the first resurrection. </span></span><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="REV.20.6"><span class="label">6</span><span class="content">Blessed and holy are those who share in the first resurrection. The second death has no power over them, but they will be priests of God and of Christ and will reign with him for a thousand years.</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">The Judgment of Satan</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="REV.20.6"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="REV.20.7"><span class="label">7</span><span class="content">When the thousand years are over, Satan will be released from his prison </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="REV.20.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">and will go out to deceive the nations in the four corners of the earth&#8212;Gog and Magog&#8212;and to gather them for battle. In number they are like the sand on the seashore. </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="REV.20.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">They marched across the breadth of the earth and surrounded the camp of God&#8217;s people, the city he loves. But fire came down from heaven and devoured them. </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="REV.20.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">And the devil, who deceived them, was thrown into the lake of burning sulfur, where the beast and the false prophet had been thrown. They will be tormented day and night for ever and ever.</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">The Judgment of the Dead</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="REV.20.10"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="REV.20.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">Then I saw a great white throne and him who was seated on it. The earth and the heavens fled from his presence, and there was no place for them. </span></span><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="REV.20.12"><span class="label">12</span><span class="content">And I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. </span></span><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="REV.20.13"><span class="label">13</span><span class="content">The sea gave up the dead that were in it, and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them, and each person was judged according to what they had done. </span></span><span class="verse v14" data-usfm="REV.20.14"><span class="label">14</span><span class="content">Then death and Hades were thrown into the lake of fire. The lake of fire is the second death. </span></span><span class="verse v15" data-usfm="REV.20.15"><span class="label">15</span><span class="content">Anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.</span></span></div>

God&#8217;s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. There will be no more death&#8217;</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">21:4 </span><span class="ft">Isaiah 25:8</span></span></span><span class="content"> or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v4" data-usfm="REV.21.4"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="REV.21.5"><span class="label">5</span><span class="content">He who was seated on the throne said, &#8220;I am making everything new!&#8221; Then he said, &#8220;Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="REV.21.5"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="REV.21.6"><span class="label">6</span><span class="content">He said to me: &#8220;It is done. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. To the thirsty I will give water without cost from the spring of the water of life. </span></span><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="REV.21.7"><span class="label">7</span><span class="content">Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children. </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="REV.21.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars&#8212;they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">The New Jerusalem, the Bride of the Lamb</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="REV.21.8"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="REV.21.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, &#8220;Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb.&#8221; </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="REV.21.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">And he carried me away in the Spirit to a mountain great and high, and showed me the Holy City, Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God. </span></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="REV.21.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">It shone with the glory of God, and its brilliance was like that of a very precious jewel, like a jasper, clear as crystal. </span></span><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="REV.21.12"><span class="label">12</span><span class="content">It had a great, high wall with twelve gates, and with twelve angels at the gates. On the gates were written the names of the twelve tribes of Israel. </span></span><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="REV.21.13"><span class="label">13</span><span class="content">There were three gates on the east, three on the north, three on the south and three on the west. </span></span><span class="verse v14" data-usfm="REV.21.14"><span class="label">14</span><span class="content">The wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them were the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v14" data-usfm="REV.21.14"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v15" data-usfm="REV.21.15"><span class="label">15</span><span class="content">The angel who talked with me had a measuring rod of gold to measure the city, its gates and its walls. </span></span><span class="verse v16" data-usfm="REV.21.16"><span class="label">16</span><span class="content">The city was laid out like a square, as long as it was wide. He measured the city with the rod and found it to be 12,000 stadia</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">21:16 </span><span class="ft">That is, about 1,400 miles or about 2,200 kilometers</span></span></span><span class="content"> in length, and as wide and high as it is long. </span></span><span class="verse v17" data-usfm="REV.21.17"><span class="label">17</span><span class="content">The angel measured the wall using human measurement, and it was 144 cubits</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">21:17 </span><span class="ft">That is, about 200 feet or about 65 meters</span></span></span><span class="content"> thick.</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">21:17 </span><span class="ft">Or </span><span class="fqa">high</span></span></span><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v18" data-usfm="REV.21.18"><span class="label">18</span><span class="content">The wall was made of jasper, and the city of pure gold, as pure as glass. </span></span><span class="verse v19" data-usfm="REV.21.19"><span class="label">19</span><span class="content">The foundations of the city walls were decorated with every kind of precious stone. The first foundation was jasper, the second sapphire, the third agate, the fourth emerald, </span></span><span class="verse v20" data-usfm="REV.21.20"><span class="label">20</span><span class="content">the fifth onyx, the sixth ruby, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth turquoise, the eleventh jacinth, and the twelfth amethyst.</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">21:20 </span><span class="ft">The precise identification of some of these precious stones is uncertain.</span></span></span><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v21" data-usfm="REV.21.21"><span class="label">21</span><span class="content">The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of gold, as pure as transparent glass.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v21" data-usfm="REV.21.21"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v22" data-usfm="REV.21.22"><span class="label">22</span><span class="content">I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. </span></span><span class="verse v23" data-usfm="REV.21.23"><span class="label">23</span><span class="content">The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. </span></span><span class="verse v24" data-usfm="REV.21.24"><span class="label">24</span><span class="content">The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. </span></span><span class="verse v25" data-usfm="REV.21.25"><span class="label">25</span><span class="content">On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there. </span></span><span class="verse v26" data-usfm="REV.21.26"><span class="label">26</span><span class="content">The glory and honor of the nations will be brought into it. </span></span><span class="verse v27" data-usfm="REV.21.27"><span class="label">27</span><span class="content">Nothing impure will ever enter it, nor will anyone who does what is shameful or deceitful, but only those whose names are written in the Lamb&#8217;s book of life.</span></span></div>

Those who sell them say, &#8216;Praise the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content">, I am rich!&#8217; Their own shepherds do not spare them. </span></span><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="ZEC.11.6"><span class="label">6</span><span class="content">For I will no longer have pity on the people of the land,&#8221; declares the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content">. &#8220;I will give everyone into the hands of their neighbors and their king. They will devastate the land, and I will not rescue anyone from their hands.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="ZEC.11.6"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="ZEC.11.7"><span class="label">7</span><span class="content">So I shepherded the flock marked for slaughter, particularly the oppressed of the flock. Then I took two staffs and called one Favor and the other Union, and I shepherded the flock. </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="ZEC.11.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">In one month I got rid of the three shepherds.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="ZEC.11.8"><span class="content">The flock detested me, and I grew weary of them </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="ZEC.11.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">and said, &#8220;I will not be your shepherd. Let the dying die, and the perishing perish. Let those who are left eat one another&#8217;s flesh.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="ZEC.11.9"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="ZEC.11.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">Then I took my staff called Favor and broke it, revoking the covenant I had made with all the nations. </span></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ZEC.11.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">It was revoked on that day, and so the oppressed of the flock who were watching me knew it was the word of the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content">.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ZEC.11.11"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="ZEC.11.12"><span class="label">12</span><span class="content">I told them, &#8220;If you think it best, give me my pay; but if not, keep it.&#8221; So they paid me thirty pieces of silver.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="ZEC.11.12"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="ZEC.11.13"><span class="label">13</span><span class="content">And the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> said to me, &#8220;Throw it to the potter&#8221;&#8212;the handsome price at which they valued me! All who try to move it will injure themselves. </span></span><span class="verse v4" data-usfm="ZEC.12.4"><span class="label">4</span><span class="content">On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness,&#8221; declares the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content">. &#8220;I will keep a watchful eye over Judah, but I will blind all the horses of the nations. </span></span><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="ZEC.12.5"><span class="label">5</span><span class="content">Then the clans of Judah will say in their hearts, &#8216;The people of Jerusalem are strong, because the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> Almighty is their God.&#8217;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="ZEC.12.5"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="ZEC.12.6"><span class="label">6</span><span class="content">&#8220;On that day I will make the clans of Judah like a firepot in a woodpile, like a flaming torch among sheaves. They will consume all the surrounding peoples right and left, but Jerusalem will remain intact in her place.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="ZEC.12.6"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="ZEC.12.7"><span class="label">7</span><span class="content">&#8220;The </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> will save the dwellings of Judah first, so that the honor of the house of David and of Jerusalem&#8217;s inhabitants may not be greater than that of Judah. </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="ZEC.12.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">On that day the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> will shield those who live in Jerusalem, so that the feeblest among them will be like David, and the house of David will be like God, like the angel of the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> going before them. </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="ZEC.12.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">On that day I will set out to destroy all the nations that attack Jerusalem.</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">Mourning for the One They Pierced</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="ZEC.12.9"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="ZEC.12.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">&#8220;And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">12:10 </span><span class="ft">Or </span><span class="fqa">the Spirit</span></span></span><span class="content"> of grace and supplication.          <div class="label">14</div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">The </span><span class="nd"><span class="heading">Lord</span></span><span class="heading"> Comes and Reigns</span></div><div class="p"><span class="content">  </span><span class="verse v1" data-usfm="ZEC.14.1"><span class="label">1</span><span class="content">A day of the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> is coming, Jerusalem, when your possessions will be plundered and divided up within your very walls.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v1" data-usfm="ZEC.14.1"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="ZEC.14.2"><span class="label">2</span><span class="content">I will gather all the nations to Jerusalem to fight against it; the city will be captured, the houses ransacked, and the women raped. Half of the city will go into exile, but the rest of the people will not be taken from the city. </span></span><span class="verse v3" data-usfm="ZEC.14.3"><span class="label">3</span><span class="content">Then the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> will go out and fight against those nations, as he fights on a day of battle. </span></span><span class="verse v4" data-usfm="ZEC.14.4"><span class="label">4</span><span class="content">On that day his feet will stand on the Mount of Olives, east of Jerusalem, and the Mount of Olives will be split in two from east to west, forming a great valley, with half of the mountain moving north and half moving south. </span></span><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="ZEC.14.5"><span class="label">5</span><span class="content">You will flee by my mountain valley, for it will extend to Azel. You will flee as you fled from the earthquake</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">14:5 </span><span class="ft">Or </span><span class="fv">5 </span><span class="fqa">My mountain valley will be blocked and will extend to Azel. Then the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> my God will come, and all the holy ones with him.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="ZEC.14.5"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="ZEC.14.6"><span class="label">6</span><span class="content">On that day there will be neither sunlight nor cold, frosty darkness. </span></span><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="ZEC.14.7"><span class="label">7</span><span class="content">It will be a unique day&#8212;a day known only to the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content">&#8212;with no distinction between day and night. When evening comes, there will be light.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="ZEC.14.7"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="ZEC.14.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">On that day living water will flow out from Jerusalem, half of it east to the Dead Sea and half of it west to the Mediterranean Sea, in summer and in winter.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="ZEC.14.8"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="ZEC.14.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">The </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> will be king over the whole earth. On that day there will be one </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content">, and his name the only name.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="ZEC.14.9"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="ZEC.14.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">The whole land, from Geba to Rimmon, south of Jerusalem, will become like the Arabah. But Jerusalem will be raised up high from the Benjamin Gate to the site of the First Gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananel to the royal winepresses, and will remain in its place. </span></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ZEC.14.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">It will be inhabited; never again will it be destroyed. Jerusalem will be secure.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ZEC.14.11"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="ZEC.14.12"><span class="label">12</span><span class="content">This is the plague with which the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> will strike all the nations that fought against Jerusalem: Their flesh will rot while they are still standing on their feet, their eyes will rot in their sockets, and their tongues will rot in their mouths. </span></span><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="ZEC.14.13"><span class="label">13</span><span class="content">On that day people will be stricken by the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> with great panic. They will seize each other by the hand and attack one another. </span></span><span class="verse v14" data-usfm="ZEC.14.14"><span class="label">14</span><span class="content">Judah too will fight at Jerusalem. The wealth of all the surrounding nations will be collected&#8212;great quantities of gold and silver and clothing. </span></span><span class="verse v15" data-usfm="ZEC.14.15"><span class="label">15</span><span class="content">A similar plague will strike the horses and mules, the camels and donkeys, and all the animals in those camps.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v15" data-usfm="ZEC.14.15"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v16" data-usfm="ZEC.14.16"><span class="label">16</span><span class="content">Then the survivors from all the nations that have attacked Jerusalem will go up year after year to worship the King, the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> Almighty, and to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles. </span></span><span class="verse v17" data-usfm="ZEC.14.17"><span class="label">17</span><span class="content">If any of the peoples of the earth do not go up to Jerusalem to worship the King, the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> Almighty, they will have no rain. </span></span><span class="verse v18" data-usfm="ZEC.14.18"><span class="label">18</span><span class="content">If the Egyptian people do not go up and take part, they will have no rain. The </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">14:18 </span><span class="ft">Or </span><span class="fqa">part, then the <span class="nd">Lord</span></span></span></span><span class="content"> will bring on them the plague he inflicts on the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles. </span></span><span class="verse v19" data-usfm="ZEC.14.19"><span class="label">19</span><span class="content">This will be the punishment of Egypt and the punishment of all the nations that do not go up to celebrate the Festival of Tabernacles.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v19" data-usfm="ZEC.14.19"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v20" data-usfm="ZEC.14.20"><span class="label">20</span><span class="content">On that day </span><span class="sc"><span class="content">Holy to the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span></span><span class="content"> will be inscribed on the bells of the horses, and the cooking pots in the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content">&#8217;s house will be like the sacred bowls in front of the altar. </span></span><span class="verse v21" data-usfm="ZEC.14.21"><span class="label">21</span><span class="content">Every pot in Jerusalem and Judah will be holy to the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> Almighty, and all who come to sacrifice will take some of the pots and cook in them. And on that day there will no longer be a Canaanite</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">14:21 </span><span class="ft">Or </span><span class="fqa">merchant</span></span></span><span class="content"> in the house of the </span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content"> Almighty.</span></span></div>
