The History of the Bible: King James Bible  

King James I of England commissioned the revision of the Bishops’ Bible. Dozens of scholars worked on this revision and translation project for seven years, resulting in what is now known as the King James Bible. The first edition, printed in 1611, is known as the “He” Bible because of a translation choice in Ruth 3:15. In the verse, the subject is ambiguous, so the choice was made to render the sentence “he went into the citie.”
