Lamentations: Hope in Suffering | Video DevotionalSample
Prepare Your Heart
Welcome to Lamentations: Hope in Suffering. Before you journey through Lamentations, watch the short overview video below. In it, you'll learn that Lamentations was written during some of Israel's darkest days. Both the nation Israel and God's temple have been destroyed by Babylon. The survivors of Israel admit they are responsible for Israel's destruction, and they grieve that it seems as if they have been utterly rejected by God. But in their grief and suffering, there is a message of hope–God's mercies are new every morning!
Reflect
Next, we invite you to read some very important verses in Lamentations. Lamentations 3:19-33 show us that even in deep suffering and grief, God's steadfast love and mercies are never-ending. This passage reminds us that even when surrounded by despair, God will always be faithful to his people.
