Hearing God in the NoiseSample
Knowing What’s Growing
“But when the Father sends the Spirit of Holiness, the One like me who sets you free, he will teach you all things in my name. And he will inspire you to remember every word that I’ve told you.” John 14:26, TPT
How do you like to learn?
I’m not a big academic-type person. I found the whole school thing quite a challenge when it came to reading textbooks and gaining understanding through just a written text format.
It really stretched and exhausted me.
As the years have passed, and the Lord has been my teacher, I’ve loved the fact that He doesn’t insist that I read big textbooks in order to learn the truth.
Instead, I’ve found that His teaching style has been perfectly synced with my way of learning. As a creative who sees in pictures and forms language and understanding from that place, I love that He speaks and teaches in that way.
I love too that He’s experiential.
I get to live out my learning with Him in a tangible way every day.
It’s brilliant really!
When I teach and coach, I follow in His footsteps. I use this framework and understanding for learning. I like to call it Ephesians 3:18 living.
“That Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith; that you, being rooted and grounded in love, may be able to comprehend with all the saints what is the width and length and depth and height— to know the love of Christ which passes knowledge; that you may be filled with all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:17-19, NKJV
Let me explain the Long, Wide, Deep and High.
Repetitive learning means that I grasp understanding and develop skills on repeat. We do that over a long period of time to make the new thing a habit and a way of life. That’s the long learning.
We then learn concepts, ideas and skills in many different ways, different environments, and different circumstances. In the different (wide) you start to see the many facets of what you’re learning and how it can be applied to your life.
Deep diving in learning is permission to ask questions. Many, many questions. The why, what, how and beyond type questions. Delving deeper into truth, to gain depth in revelation.
And then of course we go high. High learning brings our perspective from here on earth to the throne room. It’s the invitation to encounter the Lord, His heart and His insight from the high places and then learn how to position ourselves in our seat of governance there.
The Long, Wide, Deep and High way of learning is an all-round spherical approach to learning that allows you to fully grasp, comprehend, grow and experience truth.
This is my kind of learning!
Activation:
Have a think about the themes that have crossed your awareness lately. It may be rest, fun, love, creative expression or new beginnings for example. There will be a few themes that you find moving in and around you in this season.
They cross your path often and cause you to be aware because there is repetition and life in them. The repetition highlights the Lord's focus and intention to bring you into a new experience with revelation and understanding.
Write down the themes you are aware of and why you are aware of them. Ponder them with the Lord throughout your day.
Declaration:
The Holy Spirit is empowering me to grasp the revelation of the truth that God is giving and growing in me.
