This Too Shall PassSample
Poster quotes
There was a time when short quotes printed over a beautiful nature scene could be seen framed on walls almost everywhere. Uplifting, encouraging, inspirational, at times a little light and cheesy, positive but rarely the best thing to say to someone going through a genuinely tough time.
From my experience, ‘This too shall pass’ can be one of those phrases. But hang on, isn’t that in the Bible… somewhere? Psalms or something like that? No, it isn’t. When we lost our way and rebelled, God didn’t respond with ‘this too shall pass’. He sent His one and only Son into the world to pay the price for our sins, and as a result we can draw closer to Him than ever before!
Today, if you’re feeling like you’re in what others may encouragingly call a ‘this too shall pass’ season, can I give you some alternatives that reflect what God has already done? Think of Lord of the Rings, where Gandalf declares, ‘You shall not pass!’; or Picard in Star Trek, ‘The line must be drawn here, no further!’; or that great song lyric, ‘Let the devil know not today’.
The Bible calls us to obedience and dependence on God. It’s not a source of sweet, well-meaning one-liners, and it’s not about a mysterious passive good-luck charm presence watching us from a distance. Reach out to your heavenly Father who loves you more than you know, ask Him to reach down, take hold of you, and draw you out of the deep waters. This is what God does.

About this Plan
While these exact words are not found in the Bible, the general message is. Seasons come and go, uncomfortable situations don’t last forever, but be encouraged by the words of Paul in 2 Corinthians 4:17 that say our present troubles are small and won’t last very long! Take heart, read these devotionals and be encouraged that God will be with you always!
