Our bodies are temples

God’s Holy Spirit is evident throughout the Bible. He has been present since the beginning of time, as noted in Genesis in the story of creation. He was observed in the Old Testament to come upon certain people in order to provide them with discernment, wisdom, or guidance for a certain period. After Jesus’ death on the cross and ascension into heaven, the Holy Spirit was released upon all believers to allow them access to God’s presence, wisdom, and guidance at all times.

Where previously God’s presence was found only in the holiest of holies within the temple, now He is found in every believer who accepts Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Our bodies are the new temple, and the believers are the body of Christ.

Should that not inspire and motivate us to treat our body, mind, and spirit with such purity? To be aware of every unclean thought, word, and action that we partake in? Only the high priests were allowed into the holiest of holies due to the high standards God held for righteousness and purity within His presence. Have we now forgotten this awe and reverence for His holiness because we take His presence for granted?

Let us today repent from our uncleanliness and take a stand towards living in righteousness in body, mind, and spirit.
