How Does God Heal Us?

DAY 2 OF 5

Ever since the fall of Eden, humans have been born with a sin nature. That means from the moment we start breathing, our struggles against sin and spiritual weakness begin. But God knows this, and He is there to help us as we grow in life and faith. Psalms 73:26 reassures us that “My health may fail, and my spirit may grow weak, but God remains the strength of my heart; he is mine forever.”

Jesus’s life and death on the cross are meant to provide healing to our spirits. Isaiah 53:5 refers to Jesus’s trial and crucifixion by saying, “But he was pierced for our rebellion, crushed for our sins. He was beaten so we could be whole. He was whipped so we could be healed.” While we can never attain spiritual healing on our own or make up for our sins, Jesus’s sacrifice allows for the ultimate healing so that we can spend eternity with him, free from the consequences of sin and death.

If you’ve strayed from God and feel spiritually sick, you can still be made whole by asking God to renew and restore your faith. Isaiah 58:8 says it beautifully: “Then your salvation will come like the dawn, and your wounds will quickly heal. Your godliness will lead you forward, and the glory of the Lord will protect you from behind.”

Are there are any areas of your life where you need spiritual healing today? Are you ready to receive ultimate healing by trusting Jesus as your Savior?

Prayer: God, thank you for the gift of salvation and the opportunity to be healed from sin. Help my spiritual health to grow and be strengthened by my relationship with you.
