Shepherd on the Search Advent Devotions for FamiliesSample

Humble Beginnings
After being out in the fields taking care of the sheep, shepherds like to get back to the warm stable. Some people might think being in a smelly place like that is only for animals. Do you ever wonder why God chose such a humble beginning? Jesus was God’s Son, the Savior of the world, but His first bed was a box where animals are fed. The first people that saw him were lowly shepherds. There was no parade with loud music and people cheering. There was no presentation with very important people around. There wasn’t even a room reserved for Him. There was just a baby in a barn. Jesus came in the humblest of ways. From the start, He showed us what it looks like to be a Savior for all people, not just the important or famous ones. Aren't you thankful for that?!
Discussion Question(s)
- Do you think ordinary people would think that Jesus came to be a Savior for them if He’d been born in a fancy palace?
- Why or why not?
