7 Days to Strengthen Your FaithSample
Day 2: Your Identity by Faith
Did you know that your faith makes you secure in your identity as a beloved child of God in Christ Jesus? It's true! Read on to strengthen your faith about who you are in Christ.
Galatians 3:26 tells us that your very identity as a believer in Jesus comes from FAITH.
The moment you placed your faith in Christ, God made you righteous. In that moment, your very identity changed. Righteousness became who you are.
Additionally, you became a child of God:
“Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him” (1 John 3:1 NKJV).
So, in the moment you gave your life to Jesus, not only did you become righteous in His sight, but you also became His beloved CHILD. God washed you clean with the blood of Jesus, and you became a new creation. As we read in Galatians 2:20:
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me” (Galatians 2:20 NKJV).
Therefore, friend, your identity in Christ comes through faith.
You and I are made right with God through our faith in Jesus Christ. We are NOT able to enter into any kind of right standing with God through works; in other words, through trying to do enough good things. We become His children of LOVE through faith.
That means you are secure in your identity, by faith. Not by works. It's all about the gift of forgiveness and eternal life that God gave you through Jesus Christ His Son.
So, pray through the following brief bullet points to strengthen your faith today:
- Thank the Lord for saving you by faith. Thank Him for loving you, even before He saved you. Thank Him for choosing you to be His beloved child.
- Thank Him for attributing righteousness to you through your faith in Jesus.
- Ask Him to give you a greater revelation of His love, so that His love occupies your heart and thoughts at all times.
- Ask Him to help you RECEIVE (internalize) His own love; to love yourself with His love, the way He wants you to; to love Him back with His own love; and then to overflow with love toward all the people around you.
- Ask Him to help you rest in His love, knowing that you don’t ever have to work for love or perform in order to be loved.
- Ask Him to search your heart and life, and to remove everything that isn’t reflective of His love and His righteousness.
- Ask Him to make you more like Himself every day.
Friend, if you have given your life to Jesus, making Him your Lord and Savior, you are secure in your identity in Him.
In Jesus, you are RIGHTEOUS and you are BELOVED. You don’t have to work to become these things; all you have to do is believe in Jesus. That’s good news today!
