         <div class="label">1</div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">Nehemiah&#8217;s Prayer</span></div><div class="p"><span class="content">  </span><span class="verse v1" data-usfm="NEH.1.1"><span class="label">1</span><span class="content">The words of Nehemiah son of Hakaliah:</span></span></div><div class="b"></div><div class="b"></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v1" data-usfm="NEH.1.1"><span class="content">In the month of Kislev in the twentieth year, while I was in the citadel of Susa, </span></span><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="NEH.1.2"><span class="label">2</span><span class="content">Hanani, one of my brothers, came from Judah with some other men, and I questioned them about the Jewish remnant that had survived the exile, and also about Jerusalem.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="NEH.1.2"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v3" data-usfm="NEH.1.3"><span class="label">3</span><span class="content">They said to me, &#8220;Those who survived the exile and are back in the province are in great trouble and disgrace. The wall of Jerusalem is broken down, and its gates have been burned with fire.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v3" data-usfm="NEH.1.3"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v4" data-usfm="NEH.1.4"><span class="label">4</span><span class="content">When I heard these things, I sat down and wept. For some days I mourned and fasted and prayed before the God of heaven. </span></span><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="NEH.1.5"><span class="label">5</span><span class="content">Then I said:</span></span></div><div class="pm"><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="NEH.1.5"><span class="content">&#8220;</span><span class="nd"><span class="content">Lord</span></span><span class="content">, the God of heaven, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with those who love him and keep his commandments, </span></span><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="NEH.1.6"><span class="label">6</span><span class="content">let your ear be attentive and your eyes open to hear the prayer your servant is praying before you day and night for your servants, the people of Israel. I confess the sins we Israelites, including myself and my father&#8217;s family, have committed against you. </span></span><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="NEH.1.7"><span class="label">7</span><span class="content">We have acted very wickedly toward you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees and laws you gave your servant Moses.</span></span></div><div class="pm"><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="NEH.1.7"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="NEH.1.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">&#8220;Remember the instruction you gave your servant Moses, saying, &#8216;If you are unfaithful, I will scatter you among the nations, </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="NEH.1.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">but if you return to me and obey my commands, then even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name.&#8217;</span></span></div><div class="pm"><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="NEH.1.9"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="NEH.1.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">&#8220;They are your servants and your people, whom you redeemed by your great strength and your mighty hand. </span></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="NEH.1.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">Lord, let your ear be attentive to the prayer of this your servant and to the prayer of your servants who delight in revering your name. Give your servant success today by granting him favor in the presence of this man.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="NEH.1.11"><span class="content">I was cupbearer to the king.</span></span></div>

         <div class="label">2</div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">Artaxerxes Sends Nehemiah to Jerusalem</span></div><div class="p"><span class="content">  </span><span class="verse v1" data-usfm="NEH.2.1"><span class="label">1</span><span class="content">In the month of Nisan in the twentieth year of King Artaxerxes, when wine was brought for him, I took the wine and gave it to the king. I had not been sad in his presence before, </span></span><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="NEH.2.2"><span class="label">2</span><span class="content">so the king asked me, &#8220;Why does your face look so sad when you are not ill? This can be nothing but sadness of heart.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="NEH.2.2"><span class="content">I was very much afraid, </span></span><span class="verse v3" data-usfm="NEH.2.3"><span class="label">3</span><span class="content">but I said to the king, &#8220;May the king live forever! Why should my face not look sad when the city where my ancestors are buried lies in ruins, and its gates have been destroyed by fire?&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v3" data-usfm="NEH.2.3"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v4" data-usfm="NEH.2.4"><span class="label">4</span><span class="content">The king said to me, &#8220;What is it you want?&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v4" data-usfm="NEH.2.4"><span class="content">Then I prayed to the God of heaven, </span></span><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="NEH.2.5"><span class="label">5</span><span class="content">and I answered the king, &#8220;If it pleases the king and if your servant has found favor in his sight, let him send me to the city in Judah where my ancestors are buried so that I can rebuild it.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="NEH.2.5"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="NEH.2.6"><span class="label">6</span><span class="content">Then the king, with the queen sitting beside him, asked me, &#8220;How long will your journey take, and when will you get back?&#8221; It pleased the king to send me; so I set a time.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="NEH.2.6"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="NEH.2.7"><span class="label">7</span><span class="content">I also said to him, &#8220;If it pleases the king, may I have letters to the governors of Trans-Euphrates, so that they will provide me safe-conduct until I arrive in Judah? </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="NEH.2.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">And may I have a letter to Asaph, keeper of the royal park, so he will give me timber to make beams for the gates of the citadel by the temple and for the city wall and for the residence I will occupy?&#8221; And because the gracious hand of my God was on me, the king granted my requests. </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="NEH.2.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">So I went to the governors of Trans-Euphrates and gave them the king&#8217;s letters. The king had also sent army officers and cavalry with me.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="NEH.2.9"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="NEH.2.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">When Sanballat the Horonite and Tobiah the Ammonite official heard about this, they were very much disturbed that someone had come to promote the welfare of the Israelites.</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">Nehemiah Inspects Jerusalem&#8217;s Walls</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="NEH.2.10"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="NEH.2.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">I went to Jerusalem, and after staying there three days </span></span><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="NEH.2.12"><span class="label">12</span><span class="content">I set out during the night with a few others. I had not told anyone what my God had put in my heart to do for Jerusalem. There were no mounts with me except the one I was riding on.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="NEH.2.12"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="NEH.2.13"><span class="label">13</span><span class="content">By night I went out through the Valley Gate toward the Jackal</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">2:13 </span><span class="ft">Or </span><span class="fqa">Serpent </span><span class="ft">or </span><span class="fqa">Fig</span></span></span><span class="content"> Well and the Dung Gate, examining the walls of Jerusalem, which had been broken down, and its gates, which had been destroyed by fire. </span></span><span class="verse v14" data-usfm="NEH.2.14"><span class="label">14</span><span class="content">Then I moved on toward the Fountain Gate and the King&#8217;s Pool, but there was not enough room for my mount to get through; </span></span><span class="verse v15" data-usfm="NEH.2.15"><span class="label">15</span><span class="content">so I went up the valley by night, examining the wall. Finally, I turned back and reentered through the Valley Gate. </span></span><span class="verse v16" data-usfm="NEH.2.16"><span class="label">16</span><span class="content">The officials did not know where I had gone or what I was doing, because as yet I had said nothing to the Jews or the priests or nobles or officials or any others who would be doing the work.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v16" data-usfm="NEH.2.16"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v17" data-usfm="NEH.2.17"><span class="label">17</span><span class="content">Then I said to them, &#8220;You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.&#8221; </span></span><span class="verse v18" data-usfm="NEH.2.18"><span class="label">18</span><span class="content">I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v18" data-usfm="NEH.2.18"><span class="content">They replied, &#8220;Let us start rebuilding.&#8221; So they began this good work.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v18" data-usfm="NEH.2.18"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v19" data-usfm="NEH.2.19"><span class="label">19</span><span class="content">But when Sanballat the Horonite, Tobiah the Ammonite official and Geshem the Arab heard about it, they mocked and ridiculed us. &#8220;What is this you are doing?&#8221; they asked. &#8220;Are you rebelling against the king?&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v19" data-usfm="NEH.2.19"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v20" data-usfm="NEH.2.20"><span class="label">20</span><span class="content">I answered them by saying, &#8220;The God of heaven will give us success. We his servants will start rebuilding, but as for you, you have no share in Jerusalem or any claim or historic right to it.&#8221;</span></span></div>

         <div class="label">9</div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">A Common Destiny for All</span></div><div class="p"><span class="content">  </span><span class="verse v1" data-usfm="ECC.9.1"><span class="label">1</span><span class="content">So I reflected on all this and concluded that the righteous and the wise and what they do are in God&#8217;s hands, but no one knows whether love or hate awaits them. </span></span><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="ECC.9.2"><span class="label">2</span><span class="content">All share a common destiny&#8212;the righteous and the wicked, the good and the bad,</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">9:2 </span><span class="ft">Septuagint (Aquila), Vulgate and Syriac; Hebrew does not have </span><span class="fq">and the bad</span><span class="fqa">.</span></span></span><span class="content"> the clean and the unclean, those who offer sacrifices and those who do not.</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="ECC.9.2"><span class="content">As it is with the good,</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="ECC.9.2"><span class="content">so with the sinful;</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="ECC.9.2"><span class="content">as it is with those who take oaths,</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="ECC.9.2"><span class="content">so with those who are afraid to take them.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="ECC.9.2"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v3" data-usfm="ECC.9.3"><span class="label">3</span><span class="content">This is the evil in everything that happens under the sun: The same destiny overtakes all. The hearts of people, moreover, are full of evil and there is madness in their hearts while they live, and afterward they join the dead. </span></span><span class="verse v4" data-usfm="ECC.9.4"><span class="label">4</span><span class="content">Anyone who is among the living has hope</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">9:4 </span><span class="ft">Or </span><span class="fqa">What then is to be chosen? With all who live, there is hope</span></span></span><span class="content">&#8212;even a live dog is better off than a dead lion!</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v4" data-usfm="ECC.9.4"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="ECC.9.5"><span class="label">5</span><span class="content">For the living know that they will die,</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="ECC.9.5"><span class="content">but the dead know nothing;</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="ECC.9.5"><span class="content">they have no further reward,</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="ECC.9.5"><span class="content">and even their name is forgotten.</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="ECC.9.5"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="ECC.9.6"><span class="label">6</span><span class="content">Their love, their hate</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="ECC.9.6"><span class="content">and their jealousy have long since vanished;</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="ECC.9.6"><span class="content">never again will they have a part</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="ECC.9.6"><span class="content">in anything that happens under the sun.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="ECC.9.6"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="ECC.9.7"><span class="label">7</span><span class="content">Go, eat your food with gladness, and drink your wine with a joyful heart, for God has already approved what you do. </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="ECC.9.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">Always be clothed in white, and always anoint your head with oil. </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="ECC.9.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">Enjoy life with your wife, whom you love, all the days of this meaningless life that God has given you under the sun&#8212;all your meaningless days. For this is your lot in life and in your toilsome labor under the sun. </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="ECC.9.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going, there is neither working nor planning nor knowledge nor wisdom.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="ECC.9.10"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ECC.9.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">I have seen something else under the sun:</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ECC.9.11"><span class="content">The race is not to the swift</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ECC.9.11"><span class="content">or the battle to the strong,</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ECC.9.11"><span class="content">nor does food come to the wise</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ECC.9.11"><span class="content">or wealth to the brilliant</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ECC.9.11"><span class="content">or favor to the learned;</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ECC.9.11"><span class="content">but time and chance happen to them all.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ECC.9.11"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="ECC.9.12"><span class="label">12</span><span class="content">Moreover, no one knows when their hour will come:</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="ECC.9.12"><span class="content">As fish are caught in a cruel net,</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="ECC.9.12"><span class="content">or birds are taken in a snare,</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="ECC.9.12"><span class="content">so people are trapped by evil times</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="ECC.9.12"><span class="content">that fall unexpectedly upon them.</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">Wisdom Better Than Folly</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="ECC.9.12"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="ECC.9.13"><span class="label">13</span><span class="content">I also saw under the sun this example of wisdom that greatly impressed me: </span></span><span class="verse v14" data-usfm="ECC.9.14"><span class="label">14</span><span class="content">There was once a small city with only a few people in it. And a powerful king came against it, surrounded it and built huge siege works against it. </span></span><span class="verse v15" data-usfm="ECC.9.15"><span class="label">15</span><span class="content">Now there lived in that city a man poor but wise, and he saved the city by his wisdom. But nobody remembered that poor man. </span></span><span class="verse v16" data-usfm="ECC.9.16"><span class="label">16</span><span class="content">So I said, &#8220;Wisdom is better than strength.&#8221; But the poor man&#8217;s wisdom is despised, and his words are no longer heeded.</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v16" data-usfm="ECC.9.16"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v17" data-usfm="ECC.9.17"><span class="label">17</span><span class="content">The quiet words of the wise are more to be heeded</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v17" data-usfm="ECC.9.17"><span class="content">than the shouts of a ruler of fools.</span></span></div><div class="q1"><span class="verse v17" data-usfm="ECC.9.17"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v18" data-usfm="ECC.9.18"><span class="label">18</span><span class="content">Wisdom is better than weapons of war,</span></span></div><div class="q2"><span class="verse v18" data-usfm="ECC.9.18"><span class="content">but one sinner destroys much good.</span></span></div><div class="b"></div>

         <div class="nb"><span class="verse v1" data-usfm="ACT.13.1"><span class="label">1</span><span class="content">Now in the church at Antioch there were prophets and teachers: Barnabas, Simeon called Niger, Lucius of Cyrene, Manaen (who had been brought up with Herod the tetrarch) and Saul. </span></span><span class="verse v2" data-usfm="ACT.13.2"><span class="label">2</span><span class="content">While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, &#8220;Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.&#8221; </span></span><span class="verse v3" data-usfm="ACT.13.3"><span class="label">3</span><span class="content">So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off.</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">On Cyprus</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v3" data-usfm="ACT.13.3"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v4" data-usfm="ACT.13.4"><span class="label">4</span><span class="content">The two of them, sent on their way by the Holy Spirit, went down to Seleucia and sailed from there to Cyprus. </span></span><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="ACT.13.5"><span class="label">5</span><span class="content">When they arrived at Salamis, they proclaimed the word of God in the Jewish synagogues. John was with them as their helper.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v5" data-usfm="ACT.13.5"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v6" data-usfm="ACT.13.6"><span class="label">6</span><span class="content">They traveled through the whole island until they came to Paphos. There they met a Jewish sorcerer and false prophet named Bar-Jesus, </span></span><span class="verse v7" data-usfm="ACT.13.7"><span class="label">7</span><span class="content">who was an attendant of the proconsul, Sergius Paulus. The proconsul, an intelligent man, sent for Barnabas and Saul because he wanted to hear the word of God. </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="ACT.13.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">But Elymas the sorcerer (for that is what his name means) opposed them and tried to turn the proconsul from the faith. </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="ACT.13.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">Then Saul, who was also called Paul, filled with the Holy Spirit, looked straight at Elymas and said, </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="ACT.13.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">&#8220;You are a child of the devil and an enemy of everything that is right! You are full of all kinds of deceit and trickery. Will you never stop perverting the right ways of the Lord? </span></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ACT.13.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">Now the hand of the Lord is against you. You are going to be blind for a time, not even able to see the light of the sun.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="ACT.13.11"><span class="content">Immediately mist and darkness came over him, and he groped about, seeking someone to lead him by the hand. </span></span><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="ACT.13.12"><span class="label">12</span><span class="content">When the proconsul saw what had happened, he believed, for he was amazed at the teaching about the Lord.</span></span></div><div class="s1"><span class="heading">In Pisidian Antioch</span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v12" data-usfm="ACT.13.12"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v13" data-usfm="ACT.13.13"><span class="label">13</span><span class="content">From Paphos, Paul and his companions sailed to Perga in Pamphylia, where John left them to return to Jerusalem. </span></span><span class="verse v14" data-usfm="ACT.13.14"><span class="label">14</span><span class="content">From Perga they went on to Pisidian Antioch. On the Sabbath they entered the synagogue and sat down. </span></span><span class="verse v15" data-usfm="ACT.13.15"><span class="label">15</span><span class="content">After the reading from the Law and the Prophets, the leaders of the synagogue sent word to them, saying, &#8220;Brothers, if you have a word of exhortation for the people, please speak.&#8221;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v15" data-usfm="ACT.13.15"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v16" data-usfm="ACT.13.16"><span class="label">16</span><span class="content">Standing up, Paul motioned with his hand and said: &#8220;Fellow Israelites and you Gentiles who worship God, listen to me! </span></span><span class="verse v17" data-usfm="ACT.13.17"><span class="label">17</span><span class="content">The God of the people of Israel chose our ancestors; he made the people prosper during their stay in Egypt; with mighty power he led them out of that country; </span></span><span class="verse v18" data-usfm="ACT.13.18"><span class="label">18</span><span class="content">for about forty years he endured their conduct</span><span class="note f"><span class="label">#</span><span class=" body"><span class="fr">13:18 </span><span class="ft">Some manuscripts </span><span class="fqa">he cared for them</span></span></span><span class="content"> in the wilderness; </span></span><span class="verse v19" data-usfm="ACT.13.19"><span class="label">19</span><span class="content">and he overthrew seven nations in Canaan, giving their land to his people as their inheritance. </span></span><span class="verse v20" data-usfm="ACT.13.20"><span class="label">20</span><span class="content">All this took about 450 years.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v20" data-usfm="ACT.13.20"><span class="content">&#8220;After this, God gave them judges until the time of Samuel the prophet. </span></span><span class="verse v21" data-usfm="ACT.13.21"><span class="label">21</span><span class="content">Then the people asked for a king, and he gave them Saul son of Kish, of the tribe of Benjamin, who ruled forty years. </span></span><span class="verse v22" data-usfm="ACT.13.22"><span class="label">22</span><span class="content">After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: &#8216;I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.&#8217;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v22" data-usfm="ACT.13.22"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v23" data-usfm="ACT.13.23"><span class="label">23</span><span class="content">&#8220;From this man&#8217;s descendants God has brought to Israel the Savior Jesus, as he promised. </span></span><span class="verse v24" data-usfm="ACT.13.24"><span class="label">24</span><span class="content">Before the coming of Jesus, John preached repentance and baptism to all the people of Israel. </span></span><span class="verse v25" data-usfm="ACT.13.25"><span class="label">25</span><span class="content">As John was completing his work, he said: &#8216;Who do you suppose I am? I am not the one you are looking for. But there is one coming after me whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.&#8217;</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v25" data-usfm="ACT.13.25"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v26" data-usfm="ACT.13.26"><span class="label">26</span><span class="content">&#8220;Fellow children of Abraham and you God-fearing Gentiles, it is to us that this message of salvation has been sent. </span></span><span class="verse v27" data-usfm="ACT.13.27"><span class="label">27</span><span class="content">The people of Jerusalem and their rulers did not recognize Jesus, yet in condemning him they fulfilled the words of the prophets that are read every Sabbath. </span></span><span class="verse v28" data-usfm="ACT.13.28"><span class="label">28</span><span class="content">Though they found no proper ground for a death sentence, they asked Pilate to have him executed. </span></span><span class="verse v29" data-usfm="ACT.13.29"><span class="label">29</span><span class="content">When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the cross and laid him in a tomb. </span></span><span class="verse v30" data-usfm="ACT.13.30"><span class="label">30</span><span class="content">But God raised him from the dead, </span></span><span class="verse v31" data-usfm="ACT.13.31"><span class="label">31</span><span class="content">and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to our people.</span></span></div><div class="p"><span class="verse v31" data-usfm="ACT.13.31"><span class="content">  </span></span><span class="verse v32" data-usfm="ACT.13.32"><span class="label">32</span><span class="content">&#8220;We tell you the good news: What God promised our ancestors </span></span><span class="verse v33" data-usfm="ACT.13.33"><span class="label">33</span><span class="content">he has fulfilled for us, their children, by raising up Jesus. Therefore be alert and of sober mind so that you may pray. </span></span><span class="verse v8" data-usfm="1PE.4.8"><span class="label">8</span><span class="content">Above all, love each other deeply, because love covers over a multitude of sins. </span></span><span class="verse v9" data-usfm="1PE.4.9"><span class="label">9</span><span class="content">Offer hospitality to one another without grumbling. </span></span><span class="verse v10" data-usfm="1PE.4.10"><span class="label">10</span><span class="content">Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God&#8217;s grace in its various forms. </span></span><span class="verse v11" data-usfm="1PE.4.11"><span class="label">11</span><span class="content">If anyone speaks, they should do so as one who speaks the very words of God. If anyone serves, they should do so with the strength God provides, so that in all things God may be praised through Jesus Christ. To him be the glory and the power for ever and ever.
