DAY 2 OF 6

The Poser

Let’s take an honest look at a part of ourselves that’s often hard to admit: the masks we wear and the image we project to the world to hide insecurities and fears. Many know what it’s like to wear these masks, to pretend to be stronger, more confident, or more capable than we actually feel. This might sound familiar.

The "Poser" in us tries to keep up appearances, shielding our true selves from rejection or judgment. Yet while these masks may offer temporary protection, they ultimately keep us from experiencing true connection and freedom. God calls us to drop the act and step into a life of authenticity, rooted in who He says we are.

The challenge here is to be real, to examine where fronts are still held up. Where are we hiding, and what might happen if we allow God to see us as we truly are? This is an invitation to step out of hiding and into the freedom of being fully known and loved.

Reflection:

  • Early in life, we learn what the world wants from us—and what it doesn’t like. Where did you receive recognition early on as a boy? How did that shape what you pursued… and left behind?
  • As a man, what do you tend to avoid because it makes you feel weak, incompetent, or vulnerable? When did you first decide you weren’t going to risk in this area—and why?
  • How would the people in your life describe you as a man? How would you describe yourself as a man?
