God's Redemption Story (The Church: Part 2)Sample

James – Day 3
There’s an old playground rhyme that says, “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words can never hurt me.” We’ve all heard it, and we all know it could not be further from the truth. We know words have power. James reminds us of this fact.
If asked, all of us could bring up multiple instances where we were deeply wounded by something someone said to us. Unfortunately, we have probably also hurt those around us with our own words. For many, it’s difficult to imagine being able to avoid things like criticism, gossip, slander, harsh words, lying, or course language. It seems like an impossible feat because it is. On our own, we cannot tame our most unruly member, but we know the One who can.
Today, take a moment to pray and ask God to help you use your words in a way that glorifies Him.
