Thirst: Is There More?Sample

I CAN'T, BUT YOU CAN!

Jesus stood and cried out, "If anyone thirsts, let him come to me and drink. Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, 'Out of his heart will flow rivers of living water'" (John 7:37-38 ESV).

Stand right under the waterfall of His Word and let it pour over you; spend time in His Word, take it in, think it through, and drink it deeply by faith. The Lord longs for us to come to Him, to desire His character and His righteousness, and to live a life with one focus, one purpose, one God, all so that we will know, truly know, and experience the majesty and power of His glory!

If the river of living water is going to flow through us, and if we are going to continue to drink in the river of life, we must put off our sinful ways and walk according to the Word by the power of the Holy Spirit. We must walk in truth by the Spirit that now dwells in us as believers (Galatians 2:20). When we don't walk in the Spirit, we fulfill the desires of the flesh, which are against the Spirit (Galatians 5:17).

It is such a struggle! Hear this woman's cry: "I am concerned about the outside _ concerned about how things appear. Gripped by fear and instantly angry. I need to feel like a 'good mom' but I'm not. I want to grow closer to God, but I can't. There is a WALL. I know something is wrong. I desperately want to LOVE and to be LOVED! I am almost angry with God because He isn't answering! I want to hear from God!"

Read Ephesians 2:1-3. In this letter, how does Paul describe a person who is not in Christ, but separated from God by sin?

When we are in Christ, we are not to fulfill the desires of the flesh.
