A Family of PrayerSample
Prayer is Honesty with God
Imagine your family accidentally knocks over a beautiful vase, and it shatters on the floor. You’re tempted to hide the pieces, hoping no one will notice. But ignoring the mess doesn’t make it go away. Over time, people start stepping around the broken pieces, risking a cut or a fall because the problem was never dealt with.
Your family’s prayer life can be like that shattered vase. You may try to hide your struggles, doubts, or mistakes from God, hoping He won’t notice your weaknesses. But true prayer starts with honesty—bringing every piece, every flaw, to Him and trusting Him to help put things back together. Prayer isn’t about impressing God with “perfect” words or appearing strong. It’s about coming to Him with your whole self, including the broken, fragile parts, and trusting Him to heal and restore.
In family prayer, you can present your real needs, admit your anxieties, and lean on God for what you can’t fix alone. He knows your family’s heart, far beyond what you may be willing to say. The more open you are, the more you experience the fullness of His love and understanding.
Today, as a family, go to God in prayer, bringing all your broken pieces. In honest prayer, you invite Him into every part of your life, allowing Him to work in ways only He can, bringing healing and guidance through even the messiest situations. Prayer begins in that place of complete openness, where your relationship with God grows real and deep.
Family Prayer: God, we come to You in honesty. We desire to share with You the pain, struggle, frustration, and anger we may have within us. We also want to share our joy, gratefulness, excitement, and happiness with You as well. Help us to express and share all that is within us with You, Lord. We trust You as a family with all that we are in every season of life. Amen.
