DND: Dating and DiscernmentSample

Day 3: Ruth and Boaz – Recognizing God’s Assignments
The story of Ruth and Boaz is a beautiful example of divine providence and discernment in relationships. Ruth, a Moabite widow, chose to follow her mother-in-law Naomi back to Bethlehem, demonstrating commitment and loyalty. When she gleaned in Boaz’s fields, she was not only fulfilling her responsibilities but also walking in God’s purpose for her life. Boaz, a man of integrity and discernment, recognized Ruth's character and her dedication to Naomi.
Boaz’s discernment allowed him to see Ruth as more than just a foreigner in his fields; he recognized her as someone sent by God. He acknowledged her loyalty and hard work, which spoke volumes about her character. In dating, it’s essential to recognize that God may place individuals in our lives for a reason. Like Boaz, we should be attuned to the attributes of those we are interested in, seeking to understand their hearts and purpose.
As you explore your own dating journey, pray for the eyes to see beyond the surface. Ask God for the wisdom to discern His assignments for you and your potential partners. Are you open to recognizing the divine hand at work in your relationships? Allow God to guide your steps and help you see the people He sends into your life as part of His greater plan. Trust that, like Ruth, you can find favor and purpose in your relationships when you walk in alignment with God’s will.
Assignment:
Reflect on the people currently in your life. Write down the names of individuals who have displayed godly character or have encouraged you to grow spiritually.
Take time to pray for the wisdom to recognize God’s hand in your relationships. Ask Him to reveal the purpose of the people He has placed in your life.
Write down three attributes that Ruth displayed (e.g., loyalty, humility, hard work). Reflect on how you can incorporate these qualities into your own life and dating journey.
