7 Days to Discovering the Gift of YouSample

The Lie We Believe
If you’ve ever been on a health-and-fitness journey, promising to begin eating healthier or exercising regularly, you may have had this thought: “I’ll start tomorrow.” (Can I get a witness?)
And when you said it, you really believed it. When you were polishing off your eighth slice of pizza or slurping down your “last” milkshake, you really believed that it was your final treat before you got serious about changing your life. Now, hear me, I’m not picking on you. I’ve been there. But I also want to name the sneaky lie that can get into our thinking. It’s a lie that keeps us stuck: “I’ll do it later.”
Can you relate? We know what we should do, but we put it off. We let Grandma’s sewing machine gather dust in the attic instead of asking a friend to teach us to sew. We haven’t gone online to find the course schedule from the local community college. We haven’t put together the résumé that would help us apply for the job we really want. We might even really believe that we’ll “do it later,” but “later” never comes.
Friend, tomorrow starts today. Now is the opportunity for you to start living. What’s that thing that you know you should do but haven’t done?
Ask God to show you that intention you’ve held in your heart that you’ve been putting off. Talk to God about what you need to do to pursue it today.
Lord, I confess that I’ve been slow to act on what I know I need to do. Please be my helper, now, so that I can embrace all the goodness You have for me. Amen..
