Confidence KICK: A 5-Day Devotional for Christ-ConfidenceSample

Day 4: Keep Moving Forward Past Obstacles
Devotional:
I absolutely love nature walks, and as I prepare for a marathon, I’ve realized it’s time to start running again. Recently, a personal trainer provided me with a training plan to begin on January 6th. However, living in the great state of Texas, I’ve faced an unexpected obstacle: unusually cold and freezing temperatures that have made outdoor runs challenging.
Have you ever been in a situation where obstacles made you feel stuck, even though God was calling you to keep moving forward? While dealing with this challenge, I was reminded of the need for endurance per Hebrews 10:36. You see, confidence doesn’t mean the absence of fear or struggle—it’s the courage to trust God and take the next step. Determined to push past this challenge, I bought fleece-lined athletic leggings, thinking they would help me brave the cold. When they arrived, I was excited and ready to keep going. I managed to run 2 miles outside but, truthfully, ended up sitting in my car for over 30 minutes afterward, trying to warm up. It was hilarious, but at least I tried!
Realizing that consistent outdoor runs might not be feasible, I decided to invest in my first indoor running pad. This decision ensured there would be no excuses moving forward. It reminded me of a time I hiked to zipline over Lake Travis. That hike was filled with rocks, steep slopes, and moments of fatigue, but I pressed on, step by step. It’s the same with my running journey—and with our faith journeys. Both require perseverance, knowing that God is with us every step of the way.
Take time today to pray for strength to keep pressing on. Reflect on Hebrews 10:36, consider an obstacle in your life, and ask God to show you the next step forward. Trust that He will make a way.
Reflection Question:
What is one obstacle you can surrender to God today, and what step of faith can you take to move past it?
Prayer Prompt:
God, I feel the weight of the challenges before me, but I know that nothing is impossible for You. Give me the courage to persevere, trusting that You are with me every step of the way. Remind me of the purpose You have for my life and strengthen me to press on toward the prize. Help me to see obstacles as opportunities to grow in faith and confidence in You.
