Exodus: From Suffering to SalvationSample

Know God’s Glory Personally
In Exodus, God reveals Himself as Defender, Provider, Forgiver, and Redeemer, demonstrating His heart through each role. These are united by His presence, a steady foundation reminding us we never face trials alone.
As we live in His presence, we find that God is the God of Glory.
But what exactly does that mean? The Hebrew word for glory is kavod—it is a one-word summary for the weight, greatness, and power of God.
Think of the ocean—the vastness of its waves and the power that stirs its depths. That is only a faint echo of God’s kavod, His glory, which moves through the highs and lows of your daily life. It is not just found in the burning of bushes or in the thunder on mountains, but also in the whisper of His love when you need it most.
Moses personally encountered God’s kavod in Exodus. Even though he did not see God’s face directly, Moses radiated from experiencing God’s glory—to the point that he had to cover his face with a cloak.
This experience was not meant to be exclusive to Moses. The Exodus story belongs, in a personal way, to the people who experience it firsthand. But it also belongs to us in the person of Jesus.
Jesus reveals that God's glory is not only present, but also tangible and weighty. It surrounds us in our everyday lives, inviting us to experience its depth and transformative power right where we are. This God—the God who is full of glory—invites us to experience His presence and freedom on our exodus journeys.
In the Lumo clip, the prophet Ezra read from Deuteronomy, “... life and death have been set before you.” God’s glory is not beyond your reach.
We can trust in the God who defends, redeems, provides, and forgives. We can seek the kavod of God, remembering that the same God who intervened on Israel’s behalf is the same God who intervenes on our behalf today.
Reflection:
Through Christ, God delivers you from your sin so you can live in the light of His glory. Read 2 Corinthians 3:7–18 and reflect on what it could mean to live in the new, glorious way God has opened for you.
- What do you need to do today to choose God’s offer of life?
- Are you living in confident boldness because of what Christ has done for you (2 Corinthians 3:12)? If not, what is holding you back?
Prayer:
God, thank You for defending, redeeming, providing for, and forgiving me. Help me learn how to lean into Your glory at all times. Amen.
