Though You Slay Me
Job 13:15
“Though He slay me, yet I will hope in Him.”
We got the phone call about 9:00 pm on a Saturday. We rushed over to our friend’s house to join them in prayer. Brian is 38 years old. A wonderful husband and the father of five children. Brian is a doctor by trade, but more importantly a lover of Jesus for a living. We got the call because Brian had a staph infection in his hip that had withstood every antibiotic that medicine had to offer. A large abscess was growing on the inside to prove it. We looked at the MRI in astonishment.
What this meant was, unless God miraculously took this thing away, the only thing left to do to keep Brian alive was to cut off the lower half of his body.
So we prayed. And prayed. And prayed. Here is where we landed.
Though You slay me, yet I will praise You! Though You slay me, yet I hill hope in You!
It is the cry of our Lord in the garden, isn’t it...
“Father, if you are willing, remove this cup from me. Nevertheless, not my will, but yours, be done.”
On Monday morning, the abscess was gone. But the greater miracle was that Brian and his family slept good through the weekend...
We can trust in Him.
