Abide in Christ: Stay, Don’t Just Visit
We live in a culture that celebrates constant activity, but Jesus calls us to abide — to stay close, remain connected, and make His presence our dwelling place. Abiding is not a one-time moment; it’s an ongoing lifestyle of intimacy with Christ. Just as branches cannot bear fruit apart from the vine, we cannot bear lasting spiritual fruit without remaining in Him. Too often, we treat time with God as a task to check off a list rather than the source of life and strength. Mary sat at Jesus' feet while Martha was distracted by busyness — not bad things, but things that kept her from the best thing. Abiding means prioritizing His presence over productivity. It means making room for His Word to shape us, prayer to connect us, and worship to refresh us. When we abide, we become steady, fruitful, and rooted despite the storms of life. Don’t just visit Jesus on Sundays or during crisis moments — live in His presence daily. Let Him prune, guide, and nourish you.
Applications:
- Block out 15–20 minutes today to sit in silence, read John 15, and simply be with God without an agenda.
- Write down three areas where you feel disconnected and ask God to draw you closer in those areas this week.
