Faith in the FireSample

DAY ONE
WHAT IS FAITH?
đź“– Scriptures for Study & Reflection:
- Hebrews 11:1 – “Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.”
- 2 Corinthians 4:18 – “So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”
- Psalm 37:5 – “Commit your way to the Lord; trust in Him and He will do this.”
Devotional:
Faith is one of those words we hear often, but when life gets hard, it can feel difficult to grasp. What does it really mean to trust God when nothing makes sense? We might say we have faith, but when we are faced with uncertainty, doubts often creep in. Faith is not about seeing; it is about believing that God is working even when we do not understand how. It is stepping forward without knowing where the road leads because we trust the One who does.
Eliezer, Abraham’s servant, showed a quiet faith that moved forward without needing all the answers, trusting that God would guide each step. In Genesis 24, Abraham tasked him with an important mission: to find a wife for Isaac. This was a huge responsibility. Eliezer had to travel to a distant land, locate the right woman, and convince her to leave her home—all without any guarantees. Instead of panicking, Eliezer prayed. He asked God for a specific sign: that the right woman would not only offer him water but also offer to water his camels. Before he even finished praying, Rebekah arrived and did exactly that.
Eliezer’s faith was not passive. He did not sit back and wait for God to drop the answer in his lap. He stepped forward, did his part, and trusted that God would guide him along the way. Often, we expect God to show us the full picture before we take the first step. But faith is about moving forward even when we do not have all the answers, knowing that God is directing our steps.
Imagine being in Eliezer’s shoes. You are given a task that feels impossible. You have no idea how things will unfold. Instead of worrying, you pause, pray, and move forward. How often do we allow fear or uncertainty to hold us back instead of trusting that God is already at work?
Faith does not mean we will always get immediate answers. Sometimes, God makes us wait. But Eliezer’s story reminds us that God hears our prayers, and when we trust Him, He will provide exactly what we need at the right time.
Takeaway & Application:
- Faith is not about having all the answers—it’s about trusting the One who does. Step out in faith, even if you can’t see the full picture.
- Like Eliezer, pray before making decisions and trust that God is working, even before you see the answer.
🙏 Prayer: Lord, help me to trust You not just in the big decisions but in the small ones too. Strengthen my faith so that I walk forward even when I don’t see the whole picture. Amen.
✍️ Journal Prompts:
- Write about a time when you had to trust God without knowing how things would turn out. What did you learn?
- What is one specific area in your life where you need to rely on faith rather than control?
About this Plan

Faith isn’t just believing—it’s trusting God when the path is unclear. This five-day study explores the lives of faithful yet lesser-known figures in scripture who faced uncertainty and still chose to trust. From Eliezer’s quiet confidence to Zerubbabel’s determined obedience, their stories remind us that faith isn’t about having all the answers—it’s about relying on the One who does. Through scripture, reflection, and real-life application, you’ll be encouraged to hold fast to God’s promises, even in the waiting. He is always at work, and when you stand firm in Him, your faith will remain unshaken.
