Jesus, The Great Physician
Today's reading mirrors the story from Mark that was discussed in the sermon. We see Jesus calling Levi (Matthew), a tax collector, to follow Him. Jesus then dines with "tax collectors and sinners," much to the Pharisees' dismay. Christ's response is profound: "It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance." Reflect on how Jesus, as the Great Physician, seeks out those who are spiritually ill.
