Stick Together

DAY 18 OF 28

Reading the Bible can feel intimidating sometimes. But one simple way of studying Scripture is called S.O.A.P. It stands for "Scripture," "Observation," "Application," and "Prayer." We'll show you how—it's easy!

S: Scripture

If you haven't already, read today's passage of Scripture. Then summarize it in your own words.

O: Observation

Read 2 Timothy 2:22–23 again.

  • What contrast do you see between verse 22 and verse 23?
  • What does it teach us about fighting for good friendships?
  • What role does it describe God having in our relationships?

A: Application

What argument (that may seem pointless now) have you been caught up in, causing a rift between you and a good friend?

It's okay to disagree with a friend, but what does this passage invite you to do differently as you engage in conflict?

How would your friendships change if you pursued love and the other person's interests over winning an argument that could be considered pointless?

P: Prayer

Spend some time in prayer about a friendship you see being pulled apart because of a senseless argument. Ask God to help you see both sides and to know when it's wisest to let something go. Pray for the friend you disagree with. Then, say thank you for the ways God models love and peace in our relationships.

About this Plan

Stick Together

Think about your favorite adventure stories where friends go on epic journeys, face challenges, and stick together through it all. Those stories make you wonder: Do I have friends like that? Am I that kind of friend? We all want solid friendships with people who stick with us no matter what life brings, and the Bible gives us wisdom about how to build those relationships. For the next 28 days, we’ll explore what God has to say about how we can have—and be—good friends. We'll see how choosing wise friends will help us navigate any adventure we face.
