Stick Together

DAY 2 OF 28

Reading the Bible can feel intimidating sometimes. But one simple way of studying Scripture is called S.O.A.P. It stands for "Scripture," "Observation," "Application," and "Prayer." We'll show you how—it's easy!

S: Scripture

If you haven't already, read today's passage of Scripture. Then summarize it in your own words.

O: Observation

Read Colossians 3:12–14 again.

  • What instructions for friendship do you see in this passage?
  • What does doing these things have to do with influence?
  • How would you describe the opposite of each of the actions listed?

A: Application

What prevents you from carrying out these instructions? Is there a particular one you struggle with?

What do you think about the idea of "putting on love" in your day-to-day life, like you get dressed each morning? What would it look like for you to do that today?

How might doing so change the influence you have on others?

P: Prayer

Spend some time in prayer talking to God about your influence on others. Consider whether you're someone drawing people closer to Jesus. Ask God to help you put one of the instructions from today's passage into action this week. Then, say thank you that you've been chosen by God to make a difference.

Day 1Day 3

About this Plan

Stick Together

Think about your favorite adventure stories where friends go on epic journeys, face challenges, and stick together through it all. Those stories make you wonder: Do I have friends like that? Am I that kind of friend? We all want solid friendships with people who stick with us no matter what life brings, and the Bible gives us wisdom about how to build those relationships. For the next 28 days, we’ll explore what God has to say about how we can have—and be—good friends. We'll see how choosing wise friends will help us navigate any adventure we face.
