Horizon Church June Bible Reading Plan - on Purpose: Nehemiah & Esther

DAY 1 OF 30

Introduction to Nehemiah

The Book of Nehemiah is a story of restoration, leadership, and faith in action. Written during the post-exilic period, it follows Nehemiah, a cupbearer to the Persian king, who is burdened with the news that Jerusalem’s walls are in ruins. With courage and dependence on God, he leads the people in rebuilding—not just the city’s walls, but also their spiritual identity.

Nehemiah’s journey is one of prayer, perseverance, and practical obedience. He faces opposition from enemies, discouragement from within, and the challenge of calling God’s people back to faithfulness. Through it all, Nehemiah demonstrates what it means to trust God, take action, and stand firm in the face of adversity.

We encourage you to invite a friend or your Life Group and journey through this plan together! It’s always encouraging to explore Scripture together and share what God is teaching you. Plus, having others by your side can bring fresh perspectives and deeper insights!

This study will walk through Nehemiah’s story, highlighting how faith fuels restoration, how God empowers His people, and how we, too, can live with conviction in the work God calls us to do.
