Surprising Answers You May Not Hear in Church!

DAY 2 OF 5

QUESTION 2: Might God Delete You From the Book of Life? Or Spew You Out of His Mouth? Or Say to You, “Depart From Me”?

Will God Delete You From the Book of Life?

The short answer: No, not a chance. Revelation 3:5 says, “I will not erase [your] name from the book of life,” which should settle the matter once and for all. Jesus Himself promises that if you’re in the Book, you’re there permanently. This isn’t some exclusive club for “super Christians.” Through Christ, we’re all overcomers (Revelation 12:11), conquerors (Romans 8:37), and clothed in righteousness (Galatians 3:27).

No asterisks, no loopholes.

The idea of “being blotted out” would mean salvation is something we could lose if we don’t measure up—and that’s just not the case. Salvation is God’s gift to us, not a prize we could accidentally drop. Once God’s got your name written down, He’s not breaking out the eraser.

Will God Spew You Out of His Mouth?

Feeling lukewarm? Worried about being spit out of God’s mouth? Let’s clear that up. Revelation 3:16 isn’t about losing your salvation because you’re not “on fire” for God 24/7. It’s about finding your true purpose in Christ.

Cold water refreshes. Hot water soothes. Lukewarm water? Not so much. In this passage, God uses the lukewarm water situation in Laodicea to show that the problem isn’t being “cold” but being purposeless, distracted, and ineffective. It’s a metaphor for a life that’s lost focus. The call here is not “be hot” or else—it’s a wake-up call to live out your purpose and lean on Christ.

And no, this doesn’t mean you lose your salvation. Scripture never equates salvation with being in God’s mouth. It’s about your purpose, not your place in His family. If you’re in Christ, you’re already spiritually rich, clothed in righteousness, and seated in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:6). No spit involved.

Will Jesus Say, “Depart From Me”?

Worried about hearing Jesus say, “Depart from Me” at the final judgment? Let’s unpack Matthew 7:21-23. The key is in the words: “I never knew you.” He’s talking to people who never truly accepted His grace, not to believers who somehow lost their way.

These folks are boasting about their religious resume—casting out demons, performing miracles—but they missed the one thing that matters: Knowing Jesus. They were so busy trying to impress God that they forgot to trust in Him. But for those who have placed their faith in Christ, the Bible assures us, “God knows you” (Galatians 4:9). If you’re a believer, you’ve already been fully known and fully loved by God. You won’t be hearing “Depart from Me,” because Jesus is all about welcoming His own.

The takeaway here is simple: It’s not about how many religious boxes you check. It’s about knowing and trusting Jesus. When the end comes, your boast won’t be about what you did—it’ll be about what He did for you.

The Bottom Line

God isn’t in the business of deleting, spitting, or rejecting His own. Once you’re in the Book of Life, your name’s there for good. You’re not at risk of being blotted out or cast aside. The lukewarm warning? That’s about finding your purpose, not losing your salvation. The “Depart from Me” passage? It’s for those who never knew Jesus, not for those who trust in Him.

If you’re in Christ, you’re secure. Your salvation is based on what He did, not what you do. So, rest in the assurance that God’s got you now and forever.
