I Trust in You

DAY 2 OF 3

Trust is tricky. Trust can be difficult to build but incredibly easy to lose. When we see our world breaking down, abuse in the church, and chaos in the streets, it can feel hard to trust that God is in control. Often, when struggling with the hardest aspects of life, from loss to depression to difficult circumstances, we hear things like, “Everything happens for a reason.” It’s meant to be a salve for the afflicted, but really, it’s less an encouragement to trust in God and more an admission that we’re uncomfortable sitting with someone who is dealing with things we don’t have an answer for. God does not CAUSE everything to happen for some future redemptive purpose. Sometimes the reason that something happened is because our world is broken, and we’ve unfortunately managed to be on the receiving end.

However, I do believe that God CAN redeem every circumstance. He may not cause it, but he can work with it. The reality of sin and brokenness ensures that we will experience pain and hardship, but the reality of God’s sovereignty is that he has the power to restore what is broken. In our desire for control, we often miss what God is doing because we want our outcome to look a specific way. We may not be able to see it when we’re in the middle of it, but when we trust that he has the power and authority, we can move forward in confidence that he is always working for the good of those who love him.

About this Plan

I Trust in You

Check out the reading plan for CNOW UNITED's second single from the album, "Center." "I Trust In You" is about leaning on the sovereignty of God, trusting him through every circumstance. Each day of this devotional, you'll join in reflection with our songwriters and worship leaders on the scriptures behind the song and how it connects, inspires, and challenges us in our walk with Jesus.
