God’s Strengthening Word: Being Renewed by the Holy SpiritSample

Introduction
Acts 8:26–40: Philip encounters an Ethiopian official who is returning home from Jerusalem and reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah. Philip explains the meaning of the passage he is reading (Isaiah 53:7–8) and tells him the Good News about Jesus. They come upon a body of water, and the Ethiopian asks Philip to baptize him.
Today’s Key Verse: Acts 8:38
The official ordered the carriage to stop, and both Philip and the official went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.
Reflect
What happens when Philip explains the Good News about Jesus to the Ethiopian official? Would you be able to answer the official’s questions (verses 31, 34)? Have you ever told anyone about Jesus? If so, what did you say and how did the person respond?
Pray
Lord God, your Spirit fills me with joy. Empower me to share the Good News about Jesus and your saving love for all people. Amen.
Tomorrow’s Reading
John 14:1–14: Jesus is the way to God the Father.
