The most important principle when it comes to prayer is faith. It’s the key to answered prayer.

Without faith, prayer is meaningless. That might sound harsh, but it’s what the Bible says.

Hebrews 11:6 says:
"But without faith, it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him."

Faith is not just believing that God exists, but also that He does what He says He will do. Faith is trust. But how can you trust someone if you don’t know them? It’s crucial to know God so that you can be sure of who He is, what He has promised, and what He will do.

That’s why it’s great that you’re reading this Bible plan! Knowing the Word of God is essential to being a strong believer because God reveals Himself through His Word.

In John 1:1, it says:
"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God."

This speaks of Jesus, as you can read in verse 14.

God is so serious about His Word that the Bible says He has exalted His Word even above His Name and that all His promises are "yes and amen" (Psalm 138:2; 2 Corinthians 1:20).

In other words: you can take it to the bank!

When you truly believe in God, your prayer life will change. You’ll know what you have a right to: His Word. It’s infallible — a solid foundation that will stand forever.

Isaiah 40:8 says it beautifully:
"The grass withers, the flower fades, but the Word of our God stands forever."

Let’s look at what Jesus says in Mark 11:24:
"Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them."

Here, Jesus says that we can receive anything we pray for, as long as we believe. So why don’t we always see our prayers being answered?
