DAY 2 OF 7

Sowing Seeds

1 Corinthians 3:6 I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. (NASB)

Not everyone we interact with is ready to give their life to the Lord, but that shouldn’t stop us from sharing the Good News and planting the seeds of God's truth and love in their heart.

In the parable of the sower, which is found in Matthew 13, we see that "the sower" in this parable never runs out of seeds.

2 Corinthians 9:10 Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness. (NKJV)

If we look through Matthew 13 we see that the seeds did not fail to grow because they were bad seeds. Jesus tells us that the problem was the soil they fell on, and He makes it clear that in this parable, the soil represents the heart.

We’re called to sow His seeds of truth, love, and righteousness in the hearts of those we interact with in our everyday lives. It’s not up to us how people respond, we’re simply called to sow God's endless seeds generously. The more seeds we sow, the more opportunities God has to work in people’s lives.

The Apostle Paul understood this so well that even in prison, he continued to sow the seeds of the Gospel into the hearts of whoever was closest to him.

Philippians 1:12 But I want you to know, brethren, that the things which happened to me have actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel,13 so that it has become evident to the whole palace guard, and to all the rest, that my chains are in Christ; 14 and most of the brethren in the Lord, having become confident by my chains, are much more bold to speak the word without fear. (NKJV)

Paul was locked up in Rome when he wrote this, around 60-62 AD, he was awaiting trial before Caesar. Yet, even in that situation, he continued to share the gospel. His influence reached the praetorian guard, just as he mentions in the verse.

Whether we're planting seeds in the hearts of those God places before us or watering seeds already sown, it is God who brings the growth. Our role is to plant, to water, and to trust Him to bring the harvest in His perfect timing.

Prayer: Lord, use my life to sow Your seeds of love, truth, and righteousness every day.

About this Plan

Transforming Culture

Jesus called us to the Salt and Light of the earth. He gave us the mandate of carrying the Good News into any environments we frequent. What does it really look like to transform a workplace, a city, a county, or an entire education system?
