6 Prayers for Your Children

DAY 4 OF 6

Today's Prayer: Pray they would desire God’s Word.

As a young child I really struggled to enjoy God’s Word. When my Father was home, I woke up every morning seeing him reading his Bible at the table (I’m a military child so there were seasons of him being home and seasons of him being gone), but I truly didn’t understand or appreciate his desire to do so. To me, God’s Word was filled with rules and stories about people who could never seem to get it right- and promises of things I couldn’t tangibly see; so in my ignorance, I resorted to just dismissing it.

As an adult, I can now relate to Psalm 119:72, “I have learned that your commands are better than all the teachers of the world.” I long to spend time in God’s Word- to hear His heart, to read of His faithfulness. I cling to and hold fast to the promises that I can’t yet see and that’s my prayer for my children today!

I pray that my children, and yours too, would love God’s Word. That they would see it as an invitation to remember His faithfulness for generations and that it would serve as a reminder that He can and will continue to be faithful even for them. I pray that it would be where they run and find shelter in a storm and it would be the foundation that they build their life upon. I pray Psalm 119, “that it would be a lamp for their feet and a light to their path.” I pray that His word is sweet to their ears and soothing to their souls, and I pray they fall more in love with it every day.

Today, pray for your children to desire God’s Word.

About this Plan

6 Prayers for Your Children

It is my hope that as parents we are bringing our children before the Lord daily - trusting Him with their hopes, dreams and futures, as well as their protection, peace, and sustenance. With great care we look after their lives and try to protect their hearts, but it’s all for nothing if it’s not all for Him. As we look to intentionally pray over our children, point them to Christ, and exemplify the joys of godly living, I’m hopeful these 6 prayers will encourage you and bless your family.
