The Way of Wisdom in Everyday Choices
Wisdom isn’t just about what we know—it’s about how we live. As we step into Proverbs 10 and 1 Corinthians 10, we find ourselves confronted with the everyday decisions that shape the course of our lives. Proverbs 10 begins a new section of short, practical sayings that contrast the way of the wise with the way of the foolish. These proverbs speak to ordinary things—our words, our work ethic, our integrity—and remind us that a life of wisdom is built choice by choice.
In 1 Corinthians 10, Paul writes to believers navigating a culture full of spiritual compromise and personal freedom. He reminds them of Israel’s past failures, urging them not to repeat the mistakes of idolatry and selfishness.
“So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” (v. 31).
Wisdom, according to Paul, is not just about avoiding sin but about living with intentionality—for the good of others and the glory of God.
Both passages meet us where we are: in our speech, our relationships, our appetites, our desires. They call us to walk the narrow path of wisdom, not as moral perfectionists, but as followers of Jesus who want our everyday lives to reflect His kingdom.
This kind of life doesn’t happen by accident—it’s the fruit of hearts that are daily being shaped by God’s Word.
Reflective Question:
Where in your daily life is God inviting you to walk more intentionally in His wisdom, for His glory and the good of others?
Prayer of Illumination:
Lord, as I open Your Word today, shine Your light into the corners of my heart. Teach me the way of wisdom. Help me to see not only what is right and wrong, but what is good, true, and glorifying to You. Give me ears to hear, a mind to understand, and a heart ready to obey. Amen.
