Prayer Initiative: Closer to Jesus Sample

When you go to the northwest shore of the Sea of Galilee, you will see a Franciscan church called the Church of the Primacy of Saint Peter. In front of the altar stands a projection of limestone rock, venerated as “Mensa Christi,” Latin for a table of Christ. According to tradition, this is the spot where Jesus prepared a breakfast of bread and fish for His disciples and told Peter, “Feed my sheep.”

Isn’t it amazing how, centuries after that morning, Jesus lays His table for us again and again?

Today is our last day in the Gospel of John. Chapter by chapter, the Word Who was in the beginning with God and Who is God fed your soul to become your Light, your Living Water, your Bread, your Door, your Good Shepherd, your Resurrection, your Way, your True Vine, your Life.

At the beginning of our journey, twenty-one days ago, we aimed for nothing less than strengthened faith, unwavering commitment to Christ, enflamed passion, assurance of being loved by God, lasting peace, victory over sin and death, abundant joy, and courageous witness. As you went through this guide, fasted, and prayed, it happened, dear friend. You became stronger and, hopefully, more joyful and convinced of Jesus’ love for you. So don’t forget that you are, like John (Peter, too), a disciple whom Jesus loves.

Continue walking the road until you victoriously get to your final destination.

Take some time to reflect and celebrate what the Lord has done during this journey. How has He worked in the lives of people you prayed for? What miracles has He performed? What has He done in your soul? What revelations have you received from Him? Ask Jesus: ”What do You have in Your Word for me today?” Listen and pray.

INTERCESSION: "Praise the Lord, my soul; all my inmost being, praise His holy name. Praise the Lord, my soul, and forget not all His benefits." (Psalm 103:1-2)

"Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord; let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation. Let us come before Him with thanksgiving and extol Him with music and song." (Psalm 95: 1-2)
