Out with the Old, In with the New

If you're like me, you probably have days where you don’t feel like a new creation. Maybe you’ve slipped up again, fallen into an old temptation, or lost the fire you once had when you first came to Christ. Maybe you even question whether you're truly made new. Let’s pause and reflect on what it really means to be a new creation in Christ.

It means your past no longer defines you. You’re no longer a slave to sin like you were before surrendering your life to Jesus. As Romans 3:23–24 reminds us:

“For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God, and are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus.” (NIV)

We now strive to live according to God’s will, revealed in His Word:

“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Psalm 119:105 (ESV)

Through the Holy Spirit, we walk in conviction and repentance. Will we stumble? Absolutely. But the real question is: Are we striving to become more like Christ each day?

Reflection:

• What temptation have you been struggling with lately? Write it down, then read 2 Corinthians 5:17 out loud.
• What can you do this week to remind yourself that you're no longer a slave to that sin, even in moments of struggle?

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your unconditional love and for taking the punishment I deserved on the cross. Thank You for defeating death and offering eternal life to all who receive You. Help me to live a life of full surrender to You and Your Word. Teach me to become more like You every day, even in the middle of hard and discouraging times. Amen.
