Building Unshakeable Foundations

Building an unshakeable identity isn't a one-time event—it's a daily practice. Just as I maintain my tools, organize my studio, and hone my craft, I must intentionally maintain and strengthen my identity in Christ. The storms will come—criticism, rejection, comparison, creative droughts—but they can't topple what's built on the Rock.

I've developed daily practices that root me deeper in Christ. Before I create, I remind myself who I am: chosen, loved, called, equipped. I keep Scripture visible in my studio. When lies whisper "You're not good enough," I counter with truth: "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me."

This isn't positive thinking or self-help—it's spiritual warfare. The enemy knows that if he can shake your identity, he can shut down your creativity. But when you're standing on the Rock, his attacks become opportunities to root deeper, not reasons to retreat.

Building on the Rock means your creative life might look different from others'. You might turn down opportunities that compromise your values. You might create work that challenges rather than comforts. You might prioritize obedience over profit. But you'll have something more valuable than success—you'll have stability.

Creative Prayer Exercise: Create a physical "identity anchor" for your creative space—maybe a painted stone with a Scripture, a small artwork with affirming words, or something that reminds you of your foundation in Christ. Place it where you'll see it daily as you create.

Prayer: Lord Jesus, You are my Rock and my foundation. Help me build every aspect of my creative life on You. When storms come, let them drive my roots deeper rather than topple me. Give me wisdom to know which voices to listen to and which to silence. May my stability in You give others hope that they, too, can build on the Rock. In Your mighty name, Amen.
