Bring Them Back: Devotions From Time of Grace MinistrySample

THE HEART OF GOD: PERSUASION
When God commissioned Moses to represent him to the pharaoh of Egypt, Moses' courage failed. He was afraid to speak up because he knew that in and of himself he could never change the mind and attitudes of the most powerful man on the planet.
You might have that same apprehension about speaking up to bring someone back. Perhaps you wish you knew more about the Bible. Perhaps you are rusty at witnessing for your faith. Perhaps you are not a good public speaker or don't do well under stress.
Relax. It's not your power of persuasion that will do it. "It is God who works in you to will and act according to his good purpose" (Philippians 2:13). God heard Moses' fears and commissioned him anyway. He promised to put his own words into Moses' mouth.
You don't have to put a lot of pressure on yourself to be persuasive, forceful, poetic, or scholarly. Just tell the great things God has done. Tell of his great love even for foolish rebels. Let his persuasive power, not your power, go to work in someone's heart and mind.
