Leading With a Whisper

DAY 2 OF 4

Following the Voice, Not the Culture

One of the most important lessons I’ve learned in leadership is that the Holy Spirit leads in ways that often challenge cultural norms. If we’re not careful, we can begin to value charisma over character and results over righteousness. But God’s whisper cuts through the noise and invites us to lead with humility, servanthood, and faith.

There were times I found myself in rooms where I didn’t fit the mold—where women weren’t expected to lead. In those moments, I had to tune out the loud voices of opinion and tune in to the quiet, steady whisper of God. The world’s model of leadership is self-promoting, but kingdom leadership is cross-bearing.

Today, I want to encourage you to ask yourself what voice is shaping your decisions. Are you being conformed by the culture around you, or are you being transformed by the renewing of your mind? Only one voice will lead you in truth—and that’s the voice of your Shepherd.

Discussion Questions:

  • What cultural pressures have shaped your view of leadership?
  • How do you discern the voice of the Holy Spirit amidst the noise?
  • In what ways can you model Christlike leadership in your current role?

Prayer:

Lord, I want to follow Your voice above all others. Teach me to lead with humility, boldness, and discernment.
