40 Rockets Tips - Workplace Evangelism (1-5)Sample

Keep seeing the wonder of Jesus
Have you ever experienced anything so wonderful that you couldn’t help but speak about it?
I remember the excitement and joy of letting people know that I was engaged. I remember the tears of joy as I rang my parents to let them know that our first child had been born. Maybe for you it was the joy of phoning (or on Zoom) home to share the experiences of your first overseas trip.
Stop and consider:What wonderful things have you experienced?
Apostolic wonder
For the apostles, the amazing things they experienced in the life, teaching and resurrection of Jesus meant that they couldn’t stop telling people about him, even in the face of death threats:
So [the Jewish religious leaders] called them and charged them not to speak or teach at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you rather than to God, you must judge, for we cannot but speak of what we have seen and heard”. And when they had further threatened them, they let them go… - Acts 4:18-21 (NIV)
Often this ‘can’t help but speak’ enthusiasm is found in people who are new Christians. A man from my church named Greg has come to know Jesus recently. While others have struggled to invite non-Christian friends to events explaining Jesus, Greg has invited a dozen. He is so amazed in meeting Jesus that he can’t help but speak (and invite).
Keeping the wonder
A challenge for those of us who have known Jesus a long time is to not lose the wonder of it all: the fact that God would come and live among us; the amazing things Jesus did; the spine-tingling truth and challenge of his teaching; the horror of his death; and the awesome power and victory of his resurrection.
So how can we keep the wonder?
One idea is to set aside a few hours on the weekend to find a quiet spot and re-read one of the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke or John in two or three long sessions with a short break in between. Try to imagine yourself there with Jesus, and be amazed again at who Jesus is and why he came.
Action: Schedule a time next weekend to read through a gospel.
Pray: Ask God to help you see the wonder of Jesus afresh, so that you cannot help speaking about him.
