Fairness and the Judge

So, before you get too far into this Bible Plan, you need to have a good understanding of fairness and justice. Have you ever heard of the word mishpat?

Okay, probably not! Just watch this video to learn that word and much more!

Okay, thank goodness the judge in the parable of the persistent widow is nothing like God! God is full of justice and righteousness. He cares. He understands. And He encourages us to join with Him in mishpat, or seeing what’s broken and doing something about it!

Remember your first step? Pray. Don’t ignore it when you see something that’s wrong. Take it to God. Keep going back to Him with your prayers for justice. Tomorrow, we’ll focus on the widow in the story. For now, ask yourself a question, complete a challenge, and pray your persistent prayer again!

Ask yourself: Why do you think Jesus encourages us to pray persistently for justice and righteousness?

Challenge yourself: Today, you’ll read the entire parable of the persistent widow again. For real! This time, focus on just a word or phrase from it that stands out to you. Write it in your journal. Draw a picture about it if you can. Ask God what He’s trying to teach you through studying this parable.

Your persistent prayer: God, justice is Your design, and I want everyone on earth to know Your righteousness. Count me in as Your partner. Lead me to where things are broken and direct me on how to make a difference. Until Your world is restored and evil is no more, amen.
