Who Does God Use?

DAY 1 OF 5

Day 1–God Chooses Ordinary People
Devotional:
God’s pattern in Scripture and history is to choose unlikely leaders—ordinary people who seem unqualified in human eyes. From Moses’ speech problem to David’s moral failures, God’s call is not based on flawless résumés but on His ability to work through surrendered hearts. Even revival leaders like Jonathan Edwards, Dwight Moody, and Jeremiah Lamphere had no perfect credentials. God delights in using unexpected people so that the glory goes to Him, not us. If you’ve ever felt “too ordinary” to lead, you’re exactly the kind of person God specializes in using.

Bible Verse: 1 Corinthians 1:27 – “But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.”

Discussion Question: In what ways do you feel unqualified for leadership, and how might God want to use those very weaknesses for His glory?

Closing Prayer: Lord, I surrender my insecurities to You. Remind me that my value and calling are rooted in Your power, not my qualifications. Use me in whatever way will bring You the most glory. Amen.

About this Plan

Who Does God Use?

God often chooses the unlikely, the reluctant, and the imperfect to lead. This 5-day devotional explores how He calls and equips ordinary people to influence the world for His glory. Through Scripture, reflection, and prayer, you’ll discover that your placement is intentional, your weaknesses can be strengths, and your leadership is ultimately about pointing others to Him.
