God Our HealerSample

"The Lord Who Heals You"
“I am the LORD, who heals you.” This was God’s promise to the Israelites shortly after their miraculous escape from Egypt. Just days after crossing the Red Sea, they found themselves in a desert—thirsty, tired, and frustrated. They arrived at a place called Marah, where the water was bitter and undrinkable. It probably felt like another dead end!
But God, in His mercy, made the bitter water sweet. Then He made a deeper promise, not just to meet their physical needs, but to reveal a part of His character: Jehovah Rapha – “The Lord who heals.”
Healing Is who He is. God didn’t say He might heal. He declared that healing is part of His nature. Not just healing in the physical, but also emotional, relational, and spiritual. He heals what is broken, bitter, and bruised.
Keep in mind that our healing often begins with obedience. Notice the condition:
"If you listen carefully… if you do what is right… if you pay attention…"
Obedience isn’t a formula for earning healing, but it creates the space for restoration. Sometimes God’s healing flows through our surrender, our confession, or simply returning to what He’s asked of us.
Healing isn’t always immediate, but it’s always possible. God doesn’t promise a pain-free life. But He does promise to walk with us, to be our Healer, and to bring redemption, even from our wounds. Sometimes, He heals us miraculously. Other times, He heals us gradually and over time. And often, He uses the pain to bring about something deeper in our hearts.
Questions for Reflection:
- Where in your life do you need healing—physically, emotionally, or spiritually?
- Are there areas of disobedience or bitterness that might be hindering your healing?
- What would it look like to trust God as your Healer today?
Prayer:
Jehovah Rapha, You are the Lord who heals me. You see every wound, every scar, every hidden place of pain. I come to You with open hands and an open heart. Teach me to walk in obedience and to trust in You. Heal what is broken in me, and give me the faith to believe that Your healing is already at work. In the name of Jesus, amen.
