30 Day Battle-Ready Challenge - Leadership for Christian MenSample

Day 13: Keep Showing Up
Reflection: Doing hard things is underrated. Consistently doing them? That’s almost unheard of. From my experience, this is what separates the battle-ready mindset from the fair-weather Christian.
There have been seasons in my life when my prayer life completely fell off. Did I forget that spending time with my Heavenly Father was important? Absolutely not. Most often, it was because things seemed to be going well and I didn’t feel an immediate need.
Then, when life hit hard, I’d find myself calling out to God like He was some sort of cosmic vending machine—hoping He would give me what I wanted when I wanted it.
Here’s a practical way to frame this: consider how we approach working out. Everyone knows consistency is the most important thing in the gym. No one expects to undo six months of bad health decisions with an eight-hour workout the day before a physical. Growth—whether in strength, endurance, or stamina—only comes by showing up every day, regardless of how you feel, and putting in the work.
The same principle applies to your spiritual life. Being a battle-ready warrior isn’t just about rising up in a moment of crisis; it’s about the daily commitment to keep showing up. The enemy hopes that because you’re tired—or worse, stuck in cruise control—you’ll skip your spiritual reps today.
My challenge to you is this: do the work. Every day. Because the battle never stops, and a warrior never quits.
Mission: Stay faithful in one spiritual practice you’ve been tempted to quit—whether it’s prayer, time in the Word, gathering with other believers, or simply being still before God.
Field Order: Identify the weak area today and take corrective action. Then, share what you’ve committed to with a brother in Christ. Let him hold you accountable as you keep showing up.
