House of David, Season 2: Trusting God in the Middle of the StorySample

Trust in the Tension
One of the hardest parts of faith is that God rarely gives you the full map. He gives you steps, not blueprints. A lamp to your feet, not a spotlight to your future. But in that gap between what you see and what you hope for, trust is born.
David knew that gap well. He served in Saul’s house, married Saul’s daughter Michal, and even grew close to Saul’s son, Jonathan. Yet when Saul realized who David truly was, jealousy consumed him. 1 Samuel 18 says, “Saul saw and knew that the Lord was with David… so Saul was David’s enemy continually”. The same house David served became the house he had to flee for his life.
Can you imagine the tension? To be chosen by your God yet hunted by your king. To love a wife yet be forced to leave her behind. To serve faithfully and still be misunderstood. That’s the kind of fog where trust is tested.
Trusting God doesn’t mean tension disappears. It means you don’t let tension drive you away from Him. The most courageous faith sounds like: “God, I don’t understand this, but I’m still with You.” Real trust requires real honesty. Pretending you’re fine doesn’t strengthen your faith, it starves it.
God is big enough to handle your questions, your fears, even your frustrations. Bring them to Him. Lay them at His feet. And as you do, remember His ways are higher, His wisdom deeper, and His love stronger than anything you could imagine.
Faith isn’t built in perfect clarity, it’s forged in the fog. And when the fog lifts, you’ll see that every step of trust was held in His hands.
Reflection Question: Where in your life are you tempted to lean on your own understanding instead of trusting God?
