When You Wonder Why

DAY 18 OF 30

Is Jesus the Only Way?

Yes! Jesus is the only way.

In John 14:6, Jesus says he is the way, the truth and the life. The Bible tells us repeatedly that God sent Jesus to save the world and deal with the universal problems of sin and death. He is the solution to the world’s problem. Apart from Jesus all people are slaves to sin, and sin’s only outcome is death. Jesus gave his life as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of the world. He lived the perfect life no one else could live, and he died the death that we all deserved. As Paul says in Colossians 2:13–14, when Jesus died, our sins died with him. Through his resurrection, he defeated death forever so that we could have eternal life with God.

Jesus also said that no one comes to the Father except through him (see John 14:6). Jesus is the one who reveals what God is like and who makes a way for us to be with him. All salvation is through Jesus, and apart from him no one can be saved.

But what does that mean for those who have never heard of Jesus?

Second Corinthians 5:10 tells us that we’ll all appear before the judgment seat of Christ to be judged for the good and bad we’ve done on earth. As Christians, we know Jesus has covered our sins, and we have nothing to fear, but we should never assume we know how others will be judged. We know God is just and merciful, and he won’t condemn the innocent, but it’s not for us to decide who that is or isn’t.

We can be confident that when Jesus returns to judge the world, his judgment will be good. Spend time thanking God for the salvation he has given us and look for ways to share the good news about God’s love and salvation with others both in your words and the way you live your life.

About this Plan
