The Promised Land

DAY 18 OF 30

DAY EIGHTEEN — Consequences of Disobedience

The golden calf wasn’t just a mistake—it was rebellion. The people turned from the God who saved them and worshiped an idol. Because of this, the Lord sent a plague on those who participated in the sin.

Idolatry always leads to destruction, but God’s mercy still makes a way for restoration.

In Christ, we see both God’s justice and His mercy. On the cross, Jesus bore the ultimate consequence of our sin so we could be restored to God.

REFLECTION QUESTIONS

  • How does this story shape the way you think about the seriousness of sin?
  • What idols do you need to surrender so they don’t take God’s place in your life?
  • How does Jesus’ sacrifice give you hope in the face of failure?

About this Plan

The Promised Land

THE PROMISED LAND and Milk and Honey Productions have created this plan to help individuals and groups engage the story of Exodus and Leviticus in a fresh way. In this 30-day devotional, you’ll see clips from THE PROMISED LAND, read passages of Scripture, and reflect on questions that connect Israel’s journey to your own walk of faith. Through humor, reverence, and honesty, we’ll discover that God uses ordinary, imperfect people to accomplish His extraordinary purposes.
