The Squeaky Wheel

You’ve heard the phrase, “the squeaky wheel gets oiled.” These blind men were the squeaky wheels in this story. They heard Jesus was passing by and yelled to get his attention. They probably had heard he was a great healer and had nothing to lose by trying to get His attention.

These guys didn't worry if they looked silly. They weren't worried about being embarrassed. They were tired of not seeing and a once in a life time opportunity presented itself. They yelled out to Him. Notice they didn't say, "Hey you! I need you to heal me!" Even with the loud voices they yelled, "Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!"

Just speaking and believing Jesus's name as Lord tells us these men meant business. They believed He had authority and could do something about their blindness.

They yelled so loud the crowd told them to be quiet because they were making a scene. Instead of quieting down or doing what was socially correct, they risked embarrassment and yelled even louder, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us.” THAT got Jesus’s attention.

How many times do we pray once and then give up when we don’t see the answer quickly? Do we pray louder and more passionately? Take a lesson from these guys. Don't give up crying out for the healing!
