A Lamp to My Feet

I remember when I used to ride my little Vespa as a teenager to spend time in fellowship.

That scooter traveled many miles and collected many memories. One evening, as I was riding back home, the headlight bulb suddenly went out. It was pitch dark. I struggled quite a bit to get home, managing only with the turn signals. It was a risky and uncertain ride.

From that experience, I learned a deep lesson: without light, you can still walk, but you don’t know where you’re going. Every step becomes a risk, every invisible obstacle can make you stumble. That’s exactly what life is like without the Word of God.

Many today are walking in the dark; they move, make decisions, take paths, but without true direction, without knowing where they’re headed. The Word of God is the light that never goes out, that shines right where we’re placing our feet, step by step. It’s not a distant lighthouse, but a close lamp, personal, faithful, living, and true. It is the light that leads us home.

Prayer: Lord, thank You because Your Word lights my path. Never let me walk without it. Amen.
