Peace in the Storm

DAY 25 OF 30

Keep Your Eyes on Jesus

The writer of Hebrews is reminding us how to run this faith race: keep your eyes on Jesus. Not on people, not on circumstances, not even on yourself. Jesus is both the pioneer and the perfecter of faith. That means He started it in you, and He’s the One who will finish it.

Look at the example He set: “For the joy set before him he endured the cross.” Jesus didn’t enjoy the cross — He endured it because He saw beyond it. The joy wasn’t in the nails, it was in the outcome — our salvation, our freedom, our reconciliation with God. He looked past the pain and focused on the promise.

And now He’s seated at the right hand of God — the position of victory. That’s our encouragement: if Jesus endured and overcame, we can endure and overcome through Him.

Distractions sink us. Peter walked on water until he looked at the waves. When our focus shifts from Jesus to problems, fear takes over. But keeping our eyes on Him sustains us.

I’ve been shaken by distractions—fear, insecurity, even people’s opinions. But when I refocus on Jesus, He steadies me. His eyes on me keep me moving forward. I began to say at the end of the YouTube videos, "I'm looking for the Applause of Heaven," and even put it on apparel in our store. When my focus is on what God has told me to do, and I am looking for the applause of Heaven ONLY, the voices of man or the devil are silenced.

Keep your focus on Jesus, not the distractions of the race. Endurance comes when you look at the promise, not just the pain. Identify your biggest distraction right now. Write it down and surrender it to God. Commit today to fix your gaze back on Jesus. Remember: if He started your faith, He’s committed to perfecting it.
